Lustrín
| In the early 1980s, during the Chilean military dictatorship, the enforcement of zoning setback regulations gave rise to a singular architectural typology: the lustrines, named for their resemblance to shoeshine boxes. These semi-pyramidal buildings —resulting from the literal application of an urban zoning code— came to represent part of the ideological contradictions of the political model imposed during that period. |
